High tea helps cancer patient Latisha

Latisha Sadapal of Marburg was diagnosed with a rare type of stomach cancer.

Cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells and may occur anywhere in the body. Latisha Sadapal of Marburg was diagnosed with a rare type of stomach cancer at the age of 24. Unfortunately her medical aid cancelled her membership. Latisha has fought with a fierce heart from the start. She has completed her chemo cycle and had an operation to remove her entire stomach. Since the operation she has had several complications.

To assist her with her medical bills, Hope on the Move, a non-profit organisation on the South Coast, hosted a fund-raising high tea at Margate Hotel last week Saturday for the young woman. Guests enjoyed socialising, relaxing, energising and simply enjoying ‘me time’, while supporting a very worthy cause. It was an afternoon of incredible fun and splendour with comedian Muthu Murugan.

The high tea began with a prayer in remembrance of all those that have gone before, the survivors, the caregivers and for those still battling the illness. Hope on the Move chairman Peroshnee Moodley Naicker told the Herald that, besides assisting Latisha, the purpose of the high tea was to raise awareness of the need to help people with cancer. “Latisha is persevering through her treatment plan. She is a phenomenal woman of strength,” explained Mrs Naicker.
