Merlewood Primary held its very own science expo. Great excitement prevailed over the past few months as young ‘scientists’ worked to complete projects.

Pupils from grades 5 to 8 entered and only fourteen inspiring and enthusiastic young scientists were left at the final. The school was lucky to have three ‘National Science Expo’ judges assisting on the day, which ensured that the standard was extremely high.
Congratulations to Esethu Cele who scooped the first prize for her ‘Educational toys out of recyclables’.
Ayanda Mbewana walked off with second place for his ‘Lockable digital diary’ and third place went to Iphilesihle Cele for his project entitled ‘Conserving rhinos’.
The school is very proud of these three science boffins and eagerly awaits the Regional Science Expo in Umzinto in August.
