Spud proves to be a winning horse … outlasting even stayer Nutta Butt

Next month Shafts will host a tuna braai at the Shelly Beach Ski-boat Club.

Creative home-made hats and vegetable horses were the trend at the Self-Help Association for the Seniors (Shafts) fun donkey derby recently.

The horses were made of vegetables and the highly anticipated race day was held at the Shelly Beach Ski-boat Club.

Always game for a good chuckle are Shafts chairman Stewart Booth (back), Susan Hansbury and entertainment manager, Barrie Willis.

It was really fun and games, with entertainment manager ‘Baz the Bookie’ Barrie Willis called his ‘winning’ horse ‘Spud’.

Others placed their bets on ‘Nutta Butt’, another stallion which proved to be a stayer.

“It’s always a nice turnout and a lot of fun,” added Barrie.

Next month Shafts will host a tuna braai at the Shelly Beach Ski-boat Club.
