Merlewood Primary’s prefects commemorated Mandela Day by initiating a toiletry drive for Genesis Care Centre. Pupils were asked to donate items like toothpaste, toothbrush, soap or a face cloth and the collection began.

Teachers generously pitched in to donate chocolates and packaging for wrapping and ultimately the drive was a huge success.
A delegation of prefects visited the centre last week to present the items and staff members were thrilled to receive the packages.
Pupils certainly learnt a valuable lesson throughout this charitable drive and in the words of Nelson Mandela: “There can be no greater gift than that of giving one’s time and energy to help others without expecting anything in return.”
