Jai Hind pupils excel at science

The school is extremely proud of Sidima Salman for placing third at the Umbango River Conservancy spellathon.

Jai Hind Primary science boffins took part in a science quiz coordinated by teacher Sally Kavanagh. Intermediate and senior phase class teams were tested on the year’s science curriculum. Grades 4B, 5B, 6A and 7A emerged winners.

The school is extremely proud of Sidima Salman for placing third in his division at the Umbango River Conservancy spellathon last week.

A special assembly was held to celebrate Arbor Day and the arrival of spring last Friday.

The songs, speeches and poetry recital were all aimed at teaching the importance of caring for the natural environment and protecting it for future generations.

In keeping with the Arbor Day theme, teacher Nirvana Nankoomar accompanied seven pupils to represent the school at the Umbango River Conservancy beach clean-up last weekend. The area between the Lighthouse and the Umbango River mouth was cleaned.
