RA Engar Primary was abuzz last week as the school compiled a joint programme to celebrate both Arbor Week and Heritage Day.

A special assembly was held to educate pupils about protecting and conserving trees and to highlight South Africa’s rich diversity.
Grades 1 to 7 sang entertaining songs, danced and presented plays that focus on environmental awareness, as well as SA’s unique multi-cultural heritage.
Special guest Balungile Sibiya from Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife delivered an informative talk about the impact trees have on the environment.
Wildlife and Environmental Society of South Africa (WESSA) beach steward Amanda Jula gave an overview of all the ‘Blue Flag’ beaches on the South Coast and discussed the serious problem of ocean pollution.
