Spate of thefts from Ugu offices under investigation

A number of laptops have been stolen from Ugu District Municipality offices this year.

It was reported to police that four laptops and a tablet had been stolen from the Ugu offices in Bazley Street, Port Shepstone on July 6 when staff had stepped out of the offices.

Three laptops were also taken from Ugu offices in Port Shepstone between July 11 and 13.

An employee said she had locked her office but had later received a call to inform her that the office had been broken into and the laptops stolen.

On the night of July 31, the offices at Oslo Beach were also broken into.

The doors were forced open to gain entry, and three laptops were taken.

Ugu’s offices in Bazley Street were again broken into on September 5, when the doors were forced open.

Four laptops were reported stolen.

The Herald was told that no further incidents had occurred.

Port Shepstone police are investigating.
