Congratulations to Scottburgh High School’s grade 12 pupil, Ashraf Moosa, who came first with 95 percent in the South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA) 2018 National Accounting Olympiad.
This competition targets pupils in grades 11 and 12 that are currently taking accounting as a school subject, and who wish to follow a BCom degree for further studies.
The Institute announced the names of the pupils from grade 11 and 12 who took the top three positions in its 2018 National Accounting Olympiad during a prestigious award ceremony held at the Wanderer’s Club in Johannesburg on October 11.
The pupils who had participated in this competition, their teachers and schools were recognised and awarded prizes. This was all done in front of an audience consisting of peers and accounting veterans.

“We’re very happy with the enthusiastic response we received from all over the country,” said Zobuzwe Ngobese, marketing and business development executive at SAIPA, “It will make a big difference to the future of accounting and the quality of the profession.”
Mr Ngobese also stated that he noticed how almost half of the winners were from KZN and that this would be the province to watch in next year’s Olympiad.
“I encourage pupils with an aptitude for mathematics and accounting to choose this exciting career and work hard towards becoming a Professional Accountant (SA). You will never regret it,” he said.
