Marsec recyclers reap rewards

The school strives to promote the importance of recycling in communities.

Collections of recyclable materials for 2018 at Marburg Secondary were finalised on October 31.

A total tonnage of 9 475kg has been collected and gr 11C was crowned inaugural champions with the highest tonnage of 1 457kg.

Gr 10B placed second with 1 327kg and third was gr 9A with 1 155kg.

Form teacher Sadiyah Cader commended her gr 11C pupils for this outstanding achievement.

Winning classes were treated to a delicious meal, sponsored by Trend Recycling of Port Shepstone.

Recycling project coordinator Marlene Naicker is passionate about recycling and emphasises that stringent measures must be employed to promote the importance of recycling in communities.

She confirmed that this popular annual competition is here to stay.
