R70 000 needed for Dune’s surgery

The community is urged to support this fund-raiser.

A sum of R70 000 is needed in order for Dune Jansen van Vuuren of Ramsgate to have an eye operation.

Dune lost the vision in his right eye after an unfortunate accident earlier this year, and the quote of R70 000 includes the cost of the plastic surgeon, anesthetist, hospital and prosthetic fees.

The operation will take place on December 7.

To raise money for the medical bill, a fund-raiser called ‘Drive 4 Dune’ is taking place on Sunday, November 25. The community is urged to support this event.

Drive4Dune program for Sunday:

  • Meet at Hibiscus Ski-Boat club parking lot in Ramsgate at 10am. Depart for Munster Motor museum at 10h30,where R50 will get entrance to the museum and a breakfast roll. Tea and coffee will be available.
  • At 12pm, depart back to Hibiscus Ski Boat Club for children activities. (bar facility will be available)
  • At 1.30pm, depart for final destination Rocky Ridge. Music by Jacobs Saw and The Gentry from 2pm onwards. Bar and kitchen will be open. R30 entrance, raffles will be drawn and bigger donations will be auctioned by Wayne from Wayne’s auctions.

*All funds raised will be donated to pay for the surgical removal and replacement of a prosthetic eye for Dune.
