Port Shepstone Islamic School’s annual awards function held last week showcased pupils’ talent and outstanding achievements.
Top Foundation Phase winners were: Mohommed Seedat (gr 1); Wafaa Ebrahim and Uthman Rangila (gr 2) and Fathima Zahra Saeed (gr 3). Intermediate Phase: Mustaqeem Bapu (gr 4), Aaliyah Surtee (gr 5), Mohammed Saleh Saeed (gr 6) and Ummi Kulthum Patel (gr 6).

Senior Phase pupils Yumnah Mahomed Hoosen (gr 7), Yaseerah Ebrahim (gr 8), Saudah Hoosen (gr 9) outshone their counterparts and Ilhaam Khamissa placed first in gr 10 and Yusrah Razzak in gr 11.
Excellent conduct awards went to Aadila Nakooda (gr 1), Wafaa Ebrahim (gr 2), Ayesha Ameen (gr 3), Muneerah Kazi (gr 4), Asmaa Olla (gr 5), Sumaiya Desai (gr 6), Mu’aaz Bhayat (gr 7), Tawanda Nhlumayo (gr 8), Zuleikha Bibi Khan (gr 9), Sadiyah Nakooda (gr 10) and Ahmed Abdullah Sayed (gr 11)
Special awards: Arabic: first – Mohammed Saleh Zaheer Saied (100 percent in the National Arabic Olympiad). Abdurrahman Wahba and Ummi Kulthum Patel shared second place.
Sports: Mohammed Desai – Sportsman of 2018 for breaking the Association of Muslim Schools’ 100m record. Nasmeera Abdullah took the Sportswoman of 2018 prize for excellent performance.
