Hercue cleans up at Southcity

Pupils are congratulated on a most successful year on the sports field and in the classroom.

Southcity Junior Primary phase held its annual prize-giving last Friday to celebrate the achievements of the past year.

It was a happy occasion that included a Bible reading and prayer by gr 3 pupils.

The Junior Primary choir entertained parents and staff with an amazing performance under the guidance of teachers Chiné Kinsey-Ahlers and Jenna Tanner.

Each pupil from grades R to 3 received a certificate for academic achievements.

Special mention was made of those pupils from each grade who had excelled in Afrikaans and Zulu throughout the year.

Teacher Catherine Naranjo, who leaves the school at the end of 2018, handed out the special awards to pupils.

Congratulations to gr 3 pupils Kate-Lynne Fourie and Hercue de Bruin. Kate-Lynne received the girls’ swimmer of the year, netball player of the year, athlete of the year and Junior Primary Sportswoman of the year awards.

Hercue claimed the cricket player of the year, sportsman of the year, Junior Primary Treasurer of the Word, top academic and Student of the Year awards.
