Hard work pays off for Scottburgh Primary School pupils

The foundation phase and senior phase pupils were awarded for their work done throughout the year, and the Grade 7s were bade farewell.

Scottburgh Primary School held its school prize-giving last Friday for its foundation and senior phase pupils.

The foundation phase prize-giving for grade 1 to 3 was held in the morning. The pupils sang a special song of welcome for all the parents and guests who attended.

Principal, Segran Naidoo, was assisted by the foundation phase head of department, Gail Armstrong, in the presenting of awards.

That evening, the senior phase prize-giving took place for grade 4 to 7, with the focus being on the grade 7’s as this was their final special assembly before school closed and they headed off to high school.

The guest of honour for the evening was Ms N Sethole, who is the acting chief education specialist for the CMC. She offered some words of wisdom to those pupils starting high school and explained to them how big a jump it actually is from a primary to a high school, and the importance of choosing the correct friends in school.

The top pupils in grade 7 were Sameshan Govender in third place, Kabeer Karim as runner-up dux and Dallin Naicker as the recipient of the Singh Dux Shield.

The top sports pupils were Chae Dowsett and Keegan Steele. Two other big awards were the Lindsay Good Fellowship Shield which was awarded to Siyamthanda Phakathi and the Nadine Stamatis Memorial Shield for best all-rounder which went to Morgan Johns.
