Southport intruder shot

Two separate house robberies reported in Southport.

An intruder was shot in the legs when he attempted to stab a man (61) in Berea Road, Southport yesterday (Wednesday).

Police spokesman, Captain Petros Mpinge said the man’s daughter began screaming after seeing the shadow of a person in the yard.

“The man woke up, took his firearm and went outside. When the intruder attempted to stab him with a screwdriver, the man fired, hitting the intruder in both legs,” said Capt Mpinge.

The wounded man was arrested by a security company and handed over to the police. He is currently under police guard in hospital.

In an unrelated incident, a home in Valley Road, Southport was broken into in the early hours of yesterday.

A laptop and cell phone were taken.
