Man stabbed to death while trying to stop fight

An unpaid debt seems to have been what sparked the argument.

A MAN who tried to stop an argument was stabbed to death on a farm in the rural area of Uvongo last Friday night.

Margate Saps responded to the scene of a murder, which is believed to have taken place at around 6.30pm.

“It is alleged that two men were fighting as one owed the other money,” said police spokesman Sergeant Sibu Ncane.

Sgt Ncane said the man had tried to intervene and but that one of the men had turned around and stabbed him in the chest.

“The man died instantly on the scene. A suspect was arrested on the same night by Margate detectives.”

The man appeared in the Ramsgate Magistrate’s Court today (24th) on charges relating to the stabbing.

Margate station commander, Brigadier William Slabbert commended the detectives on their good work.
