Celebrate the true meaning of Christ’s birth
We need to take a minute to pause; to suspend the buzz of wish lists, shopping, gifts, food and everyday living and think about where and why it all began.
CHRISTMAS! A time of love and laughter, of exchanging gifts and good food, of family, fun and rejoicing.
It’s a day which is celebrated by many and which brings us closer together as a nation.
Streets are adorned with lights, stockings are hanged from fireplaces and every house has a uniquely decorated tree, haughtily showing itself off in the living room.
But over the years Christmas seems to have lost its true meaning. It’s been reduced to nothing but snowmen and reindeer, Christmas trees and gifts, and the love and excitement has begun to fade away.
We need to take a minute to pause; to suspend the buzz of wish lists, shopping, gifts, food and everyday living and think about where and why it all began.
Christmas is the celebration of the miraculous birth of a baby boy who is the Saviour to all mankind.
Born of the Virgin Mary, this baby had so much power that priests and wise men travelled from afar to bring gifts and bow down to Him.
So great was His fame and influence that even a king was threatened by His mere arrival as a newborn. And rightly so we see, as this child grew up to be someone no one would ever have imagined.
He was a healer, teacher and miracle worker: giving sight to the blind, food to the hungry, calm to the storms and even raising the dead.
This baby was God in human flesh. This baby is our Messiah and Saviour, Jesus Christ!
Christmas is the time when we praise God for the work He has done in our lives throughout the year.
It is the time to thank Him for wonderful friends and families and for sending His only Son in human flesh to do the greatest thing anyone could have done – to die on a cross so that we might have forgiveness of sin.
So this Christmas, join us at Gate Ministries Port Shepstone in fellowship and worship on Christmas Day at 8am.
Let us bring back the true essence and meaning of Christmas as we celebrate the festive season.
