Just In: Two dead in new year’s day crash
Rescue personnel have advised motorists to take care on the roads.
THERE’S been a sad start to new year’s day celebrations with two people killed and a further 25 injured in an accident in the upper Melville area this morning (1st).

It appears that the driver may have lost control of his vehicle, believed to have been fully loaded with passengers, which veered off the road into the bush.
Paramedic Glen Preston (Med-Evac) said two died at the scene and 25 more people sustained injuries, two of which were considered serious.
Police will conduct a full investigation of the accident in due course.
In a separate incident, a vehicle which had broken down on the highway just south of Ramsgate was struck by not one, but two passing vehicles.
Four people sustained injuries described as ‘moderate’.
