Supermarket spreads the Christmas cheer

The festive event was a hit.

Christmas is not as festive as it could be for many children whose parents are unable to afford the luxury of gifts and special treats.

Aware of this, the management team of Hibberdene Superspar brightened the lives of 78 children from Beacon Ridge Primary in Chatsworth, Durban, who were enjoying a short holiday at the Mercury Children’s Home in Hibberdene.

The team provided gifts and a meal for the children.

Hibberdene Superspar owner Selwyn Govender said the children particularly enjoyed a visit from Santa.

“They shook our hands in appreciation. My team and I planned and executed the event, with plenty of help from our awesome sponsors.”

“The sponsors spared no effort in lending a helping hand in making sure the event ran as smoothly as possible. The Mercury Children’s Holiday Home staff provided great entertainment with dancing and singing, much to the children’s delight.”
