#Matric2018: Pass rate up at Merlewood Secondary

It took the support of the entire school and all the parents for the 2018 matric class to achieve this pass rate.

Merlewood Secondary’s matric class of 2018 achieved a notable 90.3 percent pass rate, a 10 percent increase from last year.

The school’s top three pupils were Balungile Vundla (six As and one B), Mnqobi Nywayo (five As and two Bs) and Monwabisi Khubani (four As and three Bs).

Principal Joe Venter said parents, teachers, fellow students and the Merlewood community are exceedingly proud of the three young students who worked hard during the year, despite many difficulties, to achieve these results.

“It took the support of the entire school and all the parents for the 2018 matric class to achieve this pass rate. Each teacher, mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, aunty, uncle and sponsor has made these results possible,” he said.

Checking the newspaper for their results are Philani Sikobi (left) and Kamva Madikizela of Merlewood Secondary.
