JUST IN: Search underway at Umkomaas for man swept out to sea

Reports from the scene indicate that the man had in fact been walking on the rocks when he slipped and fell into the water.

ACCORDING to Netcare 911 media liaison officer, Shawn Herbst the search for the missing man is still underway.

Reports from the scene indicate that the man had in fact been walking on the rocks when he slipped and fell into the water.

“By the time emergency services arrived , the man had already disappeared under the water,” Mr Herbst said.

PORT Shepstone Search and Rescue is currently at Umkomaas beach where a man has been swept out to sea.

The man had gone swimming when a strong rip current apparently pulled him to deeper waters.

Two of the man’s friends scour the ocean.

Patrols are being conducted along the shore in the hopes of finding the man.
