Scottburgh cops are tops over festive period

No serious incidents were reported to the station.

Scottburgh main beach was a hive of activity this festive season as scores of people took to the beachfront to celebrate another year gone by. Businesses noted with pleasure an increase in customers and holidaymakers. However, Scottburgh's iconic beachfront was not as busy as it had been in previous years. There to capture the moment on New Year's day when people were having a blast at the local beach was Peter Fielding, who also complimented the police for their sterling efforts.

LOCALS and holidaymakers alike are in unanimous agreement that local cops deserve a round of applause for their sterling efforts in keeping members of the public safe this festive season.

According to Scottburgh Saps communications officer, Captain Adam Francis, additional Saps members were deployed on December 16, 26 and January 1 at various points which included the Scottburgh main beach and various malls. No serious incidents were reported to the station.

Various arrests were however carried out for crimes such as the possession of drugs, driving under the influence of liquor, disturbance of the peace and other liquor-related offences.

“We wish the public a happy and prosperous new year and encourage them to take precautionary measures against crime,” said Captain Francis.
