Hindus are observing Thai Poosam Kavady. The following South Coast temples will be observing the 10-day festival:
Tamil Association
The Port Shepstone Tamil Association (Sivan Temple) will observe its main Kavady at the temple on Monday, January 21 at 7.30am.

Kavady
The Umzimkulwana Shri Siva Soobramoniar temple’s main Kavady will be held at the temple on Monday, January 21 at 10am. The public Kavady will be held at the Natal Portland Cement grounds at 7am on January 26. The temple chariot will proceed through Port Shepstone on January 19. Umbango temple
The Umbango Sri Siva Soobramoniar Alayam (Umbango Temple) invites everyone to its annual Thai Poosam Kavady festival, which runs until Monday, January 21. Daily obayams will start at 5pm. Thai Poosam Kavady is on Monday, January 21 from midday. Public Kavady will be held on January 26 from 6am. All Kavady bookings to be made at the temple. BalVikas
Sri Sathya Sai BalVikas, a program of education in human values, has proved to be a ray of hope for the future as it promotes that each child is a unique, unrepeatable and creative being and when treated as such, learns to recognise his or her own worth and to give respect to all.
