Rotary flea market is still fabulous

Several stall-holders have supported the market for well over 20 years.

The weekly Uvongo flea market, hosted by the Rotary Club of Hibiscus Coast is always a hive of activity, with browsers and shoppers of all ages almost guaranteed to find something to their taste.

Situated opposite the Douglas Mitchell Sports Grounds in Marine Drive, the flea market has a long and proud history.

Several of the stall holders have supported the market for well over 20 years, and locals and visitors alike agree that the Uvongo flea market is one of the very few to still offer a wide variety of unique items for sale.

Rotary assistant district governor Gavin Jepson said Rotary’s prime objective in supporting and sustaining the Uvongo flea market is to provide a place for the community to market their goods, foods and services.

“The large and diverse range of stalls which are open every Saturday and Sunday of the year, is a shopping mecca for visitors.”

The tea garden and food stalls at the market provide much-needed sustenance after a morning of browsing.

The area is wheelchair friendly and has strategically placed benches and tables under the trees for those wanting to take a breather.
