Illegal dumping continues in Lions Grove
A team effort is needed to combat the problem.

Putting a stop to illegal dumping is everyone’s problem and members of the Umbango River Conservancy (URC) have been hard at work doing just this in the Port Shepstone area.
One area to receive attention was Seaview Road, leading to Jesus Location in Lions Grove.

Last Saturday, ANC chief whip Selvan Chetty visited the road after a plea for help from the URC.
The scenic area has become a dumping ground. One resident said he had seen children playing in and around the illegal dump sites and even picking up and leaving with discarded items.
“Dumping is out of control, with rotting meat, nappies and building rubble being left in this beautiful place,” he said.

Mr Chetty assured the URC that plans will be put into place which will ensure that culprits think twice in future before engaging in this criminal activity.
His suggestions were welcomed by the URC. Chairman of the conservancy, Morgan Naidoo commended Mr Chetty for his ongoing support of their efforts.
