Uvongo tennis courts resurfaced

The club has been praised on the quality of the court’s.

Uvongo Tennis Club celebrated the grand re-opening of its resurfaced courts last Saturday. Chairman of the club, Peter Digby said positive feedback had been received from the members of the club who praised the quality of the courts.

Without the National Lotteries Commission’s (NLC) grant, the sustainability of the club would have been in jeopardy,” noted Mr Digby.

He added that the newly refurbished courts will enable players to continue enjoying their favourite sport which helps them stay physically active.

He pointed out that the Uvongo Tennis Club should get a mention in local history books for offering a great sports facility, a cosy clubhouse and the most welcoming and friendliest club members on the South Coast.

Gloria Danckwerts cut the ribbon at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Gloria is the wife of the late Brian Danckerts, a most generous benefactor of the club who was a past president of the Uvongo Tennis Club a member for over 20 years.
