Exciting term one events coming up at Scripture Union

Past donations enabled Scripture Union (SU) to sponsor 80 percent of camp fees for 20 campers at the December teen camp themed ‘Ready or not’. Unfortunately the team ended up with no camp cook, but two committed, enthusiastic camp leaders are commended for stepping in to save the day.

Sincere thanks go to Lindani Gcaba, who did a sterling job as camp director, the team of volunteers and speaker, SU chairman Shawn Duma, who also assumed the role as father figure during the camp.

Good luck to South Coast field worker Peter Nuttall, currently attending a national staff conference in Cape Town.

Diary items:

– February 15: Training of new Lifeskills leaders;

– February 18 and 19: First Lifeskills at Port Shepstone Secondary School – 8am to 2pm.

– March 1: Beach fun day at St Michael’s beach.

– March 9: Training Leaders #1 at Salem Church – 9am to 1pm.

– March 26 to 29: Children’s camp at Oribi Bible Camp, theme is ‘100 percent’.

School Christian groups:

Monday: RA Engar Primary (grades 1 to 3); Tuesday: Port Shepstone Primary; Wednesday: Merlewood Primary, Hibiscus Primary and Port Shepstone Secondary; Thursday: Siphakamile Primary, Jai Hind, Creston College and Southcity; Friday: Port Shepstone Junior Primary, Izotsha Primary and Port Shepstone Senior Primary; and Saturday: Bethania Community Groups.

School assemblies:

Wednesday – Hlanganani Preparatory (grades 1 to 3) and Izotsha Primary; Friday – Hlanganani Preparatory (grades 4 to 7) and Creston (junior).

Peter Nuttall will head up three leadership training days to equip, enhance and develop leaders. Provisional dates are:

– March 9 – Leading small groups effectively;

– May 18 – How to develop and object lesson; and

– September 24 – Understanding the world of a child.
