Horror crash case in which four children died is postponed again

The front of the white single cab bakkie was smashed while the hatchback driven by Mitchell was mangled almost beyond recognition.

The Ramsgate man charged with drunk driving after an accident which claimed the lives of eight members of the same family appeared in court recently.

Anastasios Peyios (64) is out on bail of R5 000.

The family was returning to their home in Northdale, Pietermaritzburg after spending the weekend with family in Oslo Beach when the accident occurred on the N2 toll road near Umzumbe on January 21, 2018.

Veroshnie Ramparsad (32), her husband Mitchell Roland Mahabeer (37), her mother Lorraine (56) whose birthday it was, Mitchell’s brother Jesse (22) and Veroshnie’s four children Isabella (12), Hannah (8), Leah (7) and Titus (4) were killed when their car and a bakkie were involved in a head-on collision.

The case was postponed to April 23 for further investigation.
