Hibiscus Day Hospital opens its doors

In line with the hospital's core vision, the facility will provide high-quality patient care.

A new ultra-modern day theatre facility has opened its doors in Port Shepstone providing cost-efficient and advanced health care services to the South Coast community.

It was with a great sense of pride and achievement that the Hibiscus Hospitals group held the opening of its new day hospital facility on Monday this week.

Dr Ayoob Bux (chairman), Richard Mills (CEO); Peet van Coller (CFO) and Sister Firoza Sheik (nursing services manager) proudly declared the facility open at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

In line with the hospital’s core vision, the facility will provide high-quality patient care; synonymous with Hibiscus Hospital.

These are the new developments which have recently taken place at the hospital:

• An additional medical ward consisting of 27 beds, including seven isolation rooms and two private VIP rooms. This new wing was opened in the first week of December 2018.

• A new modern state-of-the-art 20 bed, two theatre day hospital, linked directly to the main hospital which opened on Tuesday this week.

• The final component of the development includes an additional floor, comprising eight modern medical suites accommodating some of the hospital’s resident specialists, as well as an area allocated for radiology which will be ready for opening on March 1.

• The hospital has provided secure parking facilities located across the road on Bazley Street, which can accommodate up to 85 vehicles for visitors and patients alike.

Mr Mills said Hibiscus Hospital had evolved from humble beginnings and thanked all who entrusted their care to the hospital over the years.
