Factory worker’s hand crushed in freak accident

The man's hand was caught in a conveyor belt.

A factory worker sustained serious injuries after his hand got caught in a conveyor belt at a quarry in Uvongo yesterday (Thursday).

Shawn Herbst, spokesman for Netcare 911 said paramedics responded to reports of an industrial incident at around 11.48am.

“The patient sustained traumatic injuries of the hand and was assessed on scene by an advanced life support paramedic and, once stabilised, was transported to hospital for further treatment,” he said.
