Sheppie Snippets: Cultural federation to hold meeting

All organisations are asked to attend.

The Port Shepstone Hindu Cultural Federation invites all Hindu organisations and the general public to its Biennial General Meeting to be held at the Port Shepstone Arya Samaj Hall on Wednesday, February 27 at 6.30pm. All organisations are requested to send four delegates, of which only two delegates will have voting rights.

All affiliates to ensure that delegates are present at the meeting to ensure proper representation.

Volleyball

The Nanda Moodley Memorial Volleyball Tournament will be held at the Marburg Sports Complex on Saturday, February 23 at 1pm.

The tournament which is in its second year is open to all local players, social teams, business houses, religious organisations, teachers, families and volleyball enthusiasts.

Entry fee is R200 per team, with registration from 1pm on the day of the tournament. For further information, contact tournament director, Jason Govender at 084 250 8875.

Scouts

The Amavulandlela Ogu Scout Club will observe a ‘BP Sunday’ to commemorate the birth date of Lord Robert Baden-Powell who was born on February 22, 1857. Lord Baden-Powell was a former British army officer, writer, founder and first chief scout of the worldwide Boy Scout movement.

The local Amavulandlela Ogu Scout Club will be hosting a special event at the Port Shepstone Presbyterian Church this Sunday, February 24 from 9am to 11am.

Maha Shivarathri

The Shree Raam Narayan Temple Society in Marburg will observe Maha Shivarathri at the temple on Monday, March 4 from 6pm to 6am. Officiating priest is Pundit Misra. All are welcome. For details contact Singh Samsunder at 083 3008382.

Eastern Extravaganza

The Shree Raam Narayan Temple Society is also hosting an Eastern Extravaganza, which will be an evening of glitz, glamour and dinner at the Port Shepstone Civic Centre on Saturday, March 16 at 5.30pm for 6pm. There will be a Miss Eastern Teen contest as well as performances by Shiv Ramsunder and Samishka Singh. Former Lotus FM DJ Chandresan Govender will also be in attendance.

Entry fee is R150 per person. Lucky draws, a raffle and an auction will be held. For tickets and further information contact Remilla Jagersar at 083 414 1739.

Prayer

The Hibiscus Coast Navarathri Committee invites all to its Hanuman Chalisa recital to be held at the Shree Raam Narayan Temple Society in Marburg on Saturday, March 30 at 5pm. For further information contact Roshilla Mahadawu at 084 6021582 or Romilla Ramdhan at 061 4819446 .
