Sheppie Snippets: Important prayer to be observed
This year the auspicious prayer will be observed on March 4.
The Maha Shivaratri festival or ‘The Night of Shiva’ is celebrated in honour of Lord Shiva, one of the deities of Hindu Trinity.
Shivaratri falls on the moonless 14th night of the new moon in the Hindu month of Phalgun, which corresponds to the months of February and March.
Celebrating the festival of Maha Shivaratri, devotees observe a day and night fast and perform ritual worshipping of Lord Shiva. This year the auspicious prayer will be observed next Monday, March 4.
Maha Shivaratri
The Shree Raam Narayan Temple Society in Marburg will observe Maha Shivaratri at the temple on Monday, March 4 from 6pm to 6am.

Tamil Association
Port Shepstone Tamil Association encourages everyone to attend their annual Maha Shivaratri prayer on March 4 from 6pm to 6am. All are welcome. Supper will be served. For more information contact Radha at 071 4835568 or Dinah at 083 7813853.
Shree Hanuman
The Shree Hanuman Sanathan Dharma Sabha Mandir will host its Maha Shivaratri on March 4 from 6pm to 6am. Supper will be served. All are welcome. For further information contact Veena Lakhan at 067 068 8282.
Umzimkulwana Temple
The Umzimkulwana Shri Shiva Soobramoniar Temple will host a Maha Shivaratri prayer on March 4 at 6pm. For more details contact Devan Govender at 079 5920490.
The Maha Vishnu Temple will be observing Maha Shivarathri prayer on Monday, March 4 and Tuesday, 5th. Prayer starts at 6pm and continues till 6am the following day.

Eastern Extravaganza
The Shree Raam Narayan Temple Society will be hosting an Eastern Extravaganza, which will be an evening of glitz, glamour and dinner at the Port Shepstone Civic Centre on Saturday, March 16 at 5.30pm for 6pm. There will be a Miss Eastern Teen contest as well as performances by Shiv Ramsunder and Samishka Singh. Former Lotus FM DJ Chandresan Govender will also be in attendance. Entry fee is R150 per person. Lucky draws, a raffle and an auction will be held. The society is looking for table sponsors for some senior citizens.
