The show, to be staged at the Azalea Hall on Saturday, March 23, will offer a concise and fascinating overview of the piano music of composer George Gershwin (1898-1937). His big hits include `Swanee’ which was made famous by Al Jolson, `Rhapsody in Blue’, `Summertime’ and `I Got Rhythm’. The folk-opera `Porgy and Bess’ (1935) is hailed by many as his most ambitious work. Sadly this musical genius died from a brain tumour at the tender age of 38 years.

Christopher Duigan, who is based in the KZN Midlands, is widely regarded as one of the country’s leading concert pianists.

Take note the doors open at 6pm and the concert starts at 7pm. Tickets at R85 per person will be on sale from the RAC or admin offices from March 4.

There’s a treat in store for movie buffs.

The next classic movie at the village is the `Student Prince’ starring Mario Lanza and Norma Giusti.

The date to diarise is Sunday, March 17 at the Ronnie Baker Hall. The film starts at 2.30pm and tea, coffee and biscuits will be served during the intermission.
