Annika Chetty’s performance earned her a standing ovation when she slowed her lap to allow another swimmer not only to overtake her, but to win the event. With her faultless performance in all events, she was nominated swimmer of the year.

Juvé Martin (gr 12) swam his last gala and claimed the men’s swimmer of the year title. Pupils were also treated to a few life-saving technique demonstrations by Tower 13 lifeguards.

Sincere thanks to the lifeguards, Jai Hind Primary, for the use of their pool facilities, and to retired sports coach and teacher Marcus Nagoora for his assistance.

At the first high schools’ volleyball knockout tournament held at the Marburg Sports Complex, coaches and managers of the U16 and O16 reigning champions are extremely proud that they brought the coveted champions trophy back home.

The U16 girls beat Marsec 2-0 in their final. The U16 boys’ A team beat Sheppie High 2-1 and the O16 boys beat St Martin de Porres 2-1.
