On sale were a wide variety of crafts, flea market fashions and tasty food. Local restaurant and pub owners also welcomed visitors on the night and many stores extend their trading hours to cater for the crowds.

Corrie Wernick of the Margate Business Association can’t resist buying a tasty snack at the Mardi Gras.

During Mardi Gras, the main street of Margate is closed off to traffic from 6pm to 10pm and it becomes a great venue for foot-tapping music that gets everyone dancing in the street.
