Shelly Lions test blood sugar levels

Blood sugar tests can be an important tool in preventing diabetes related complications.

Members of the Shelly Beach Lions Club hosted a blood sugar testing campaign at Southcoast Mall last Saturday. Sister Jan McCook was on hand to counsel and advise those whose results were indicative of possible diabetes.

Also present were the staff of Hibiscus Helping Hands, a non-profit organisation, who collected food parcels for less fortunate local children.

Shelly Beach Lions PRO Johann Bentley said “Although diabetes can have symptoms, such as thirst, urinating a lot, blurred vision, weight loss, recurrent infections and tiredness, you may only experience these symptoms mildly or even not at all. That’s why it’s important to have your blood sugar tested.”
