UPDATE: Escaped prisoners – two hand themselves over to Gamalakhe police

UPDATE April 8 at 6am:
Three re-arrests have been made now, with information received that two more have handed themselves over to Gamalakhe police.
They are Saneliso Owen Malanga and Sanele Hlongwene.
That now makes it three in total, with two still at large.
UPDATE 4.30pm
Police have confirmed that the escapees remain at large. If you see them, contact the police immediately.
One of the men, Sanele Ncane, was re-arrested in Gamalakhe this afternoon.
ORIGINAL STORY
Police are searching for five awaiting trial prisoners who escaped from police custody in Margate earlier today. The escapees are thought to have made their getaway through the roof.

Provincial police spokesman Colonel Thulani Zwane confirmed the incident. “We are still gathering information, but at this stage we can confirm that the prisoners who escaped are facing serious charges, including murder and robbery.”
Col Zwane added that more information on the suspects would be released as it became available.
