Sheppie Snippets: Join the beach clean up this Saturday

The event was postponed last week.

The ‘Hope on the Move’ beach clean up, which was to be held last Saturday, was postponed to this Saturday, April 13. The event will take place along Port Shepstone beachfront.

The organisation invites all schools to take part. The clean up starts at the King Prawn car park with registration at 9am.

Morning tea

Stonecroft Ministries’ next tea titled ‘The Challenge of Special Needs’ will be held at the Port Shepstone Country Club this Friday, April 12 at 9am for 9.30am. Vuyiseka Ncokazi, manager of the Ikhayalethu Home of Love and Care, will give a talk about the centre. Andy Ducasse will share his life story and music will be provided by Nadia Engelbrecht accompanied by Sue Neilson. The cost is R30 per person. Pool and thunee fundraiser

A pool and thunee fundraiser is planned for local pool players who will be taking part in the South African pool championships in Cape Town. The pool and thunee competition will be held at the Action Sports Bar in Marburg this Saturday, April 13 from 1pm. The event is hosted by Sapphire Coast Pool Academy. Palm Sunday

Join Mbango Melody Makers for a selection of beautiful music in the Mbango hall on Palm Sunday, April 14 at 2 for 2.30pm. Entrance is free, but there will be a silver collection. Tea and coffee will be provided. For further information contact Michele at 082 4510226.

Temple prayers

Shree Hanuman Sanathan Dharma will observe Raam Naumi this Friday, April 12 at 10am. Hanuman Jayanthi and the 85th anniversary of the temple will be observed on April 19. All are welcome. For further details contact Veena Lakhan at 067 0688282.

The Shree Raam Narayan Temple Society is observing its Ramayan week from last Saturday. Sri Raam Naumi will be held this Saturday, April 13 at 9am and Sri Hanuman Jayanthi on April 19 at 9am.

The Umzimkuluwana Shri Siva Soobramoniar Temple will host its annual Chitraparuvam Kavady on April 19 at 7am. All are welcome. For further details contact Devan at 079 5920490 or Sureshini at 082 074 2907.

The Umbango Sri Siva Soobramoniar Alayam will observe their annual Good Friday Prayer on April 19. The temple will be open from 6am to all devotees to make their offerings and prayer to divine mother Sathi. Idols and some prayer goods will be available at the temple for a small donation, lunch and refreshments will be served. The temple also invites all to their annual Chitraparuvam Kavady Festival from April 10 to April 19. Flag hosting will commence on Wednesday, April 10 with hawan starting at 5pm.

The temple chariot will be visiting the districts of Port Shepstone on Sunday, April 14 from 8.30am. Kavady bookings will be open from flag hosting day. All devotees who wish to partake in the obayams are kindly requested to contact the executive members of the temple. Bhajans in praise of Lord Muruga will be rendered. Daily prayer times on weekdays will start at 5.30pm and on weekends at 3pm. Chitraparuvam Kavady will be on April 19 with hawan starting at 1pm. The temple also invites all to its annual Hanuman Jayanti Prayer on Friday, April 19 at 1pm followed by bhajans in praise of Lord Hanuman , supper and prasadam will be served. All are welcome.
