Scottburgh’s tree thief strikes again
The replacement trees which were planted and secured with wire fencing around them were stolen again last week.

FRUSTRATION levels are rising in Scottburgh as a tree thief continues to wreak havoc on the town. Scottburgh Lions assisted by members of the Umdoni Municipality planted several yellowwood and mahogany trees at the entrance of Scottburgh during Arbor Week last year. Not long afterwards a couple of the trees were stolen which Lion members replaced. The replacement trees which were planted and secured with wire fencing around them were stolen again last week.

“I cannot believe that people will still go and yank out something that we have placed to beautify our town,” said Priscilla Tedder, Scottburgh Lion’s president.
“We buy and plant these trees with our funds and it upsets and angers me to know that there are people out there who disregard what has been done to benefit our community,” she said.
New trees have been planted by the Lions Club and hopefully this time their efforts will not be in vain.
