Five facts about Easter Sunday – and afterwards
It's an important day for Christians.
1. The stone to the tomb had been rolled away, as observed by Mary Magdalene, Jesus’ mother Mary, and Salome, the mother of James and John.
2. In the tomb sat a young man (angel) clothed in a robe of white. He said: “Do not be amazed and terrified; you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, Who was crucified. He has risen; He is not here. See the place where they laid Him.”
3. Jesus appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom He had driven out seven demons. She told the disciples who at first did not believe her.
4. The chief priests, upon hearing what the guards said, gave them money and told them to tell people that Jesus’ disciples came at night and stole Him away while they were sleeping.
5. Jesus appeared among the disciples. They were startled and terrified, thinking they were seeing a spirit. But Jesus said: “See My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself! Feel and handle me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you see that I have.”
