Fitness club celebrates fifth anniversary in Park Rynie

Not only is this group known to uplift women, it is also well-known for its fund-raising efforts.

The South Coast’s famous Ultimate Dance Fitness (UDF) team celebrated its fifth anniversary at the Catholic Church Hall in Park Rynie on May 25.

Shereen Paul, a qualified and licensed Zumba instructor and Zumba international network member, runs this fitness club.

The milestone was celebrated by the dance class members, community members and their guest of honour – fitness guru Sue McAlpine who shared some words of motivation.

Not only is this Zumba group known to uplift women, it is also well-known for its fund-raising efforts in the community. This group is a staunch supporter of cancer charities, with Khanya Hospice their main focus.

The team regularly organises fund-raising drives for cancer patients and has over the years raised tens of thousands of rands for hospice in particular.

At the celebration, member and programme director, Perashnie Chetty did a sterling job by keeping guests entertained throughout the evening.

The first-ever UDF member, Verendri Pillay, gave the audience much insight into how the fitness club started, their goals, contributions and the purpose of the establishment.

“I must make special mention of Shereen’s admirable work in training and motivating women to make fitness part of their lifestyle,” said Verendri.

After all the speeches, the guests enjoyed a slideshow of magical memories made at UDF.

The evening ended with the cutting of the anniversary cake, a vote of thanks by Shereen, and a tasty dinner.
