Tweni Talk: Fed-up Tweni residents fill pesky potholes
Opposite the pub on Third Avenue, there are piles of gravel that people are free to use to fill potholes.
AGAIN locals need to pick up where Ray Nkonyeni Municipality has let Umtentweni down – street lights are continually reported out of order but not fixed and people even go as far as marking poles with danger tape to draw attention to exactly which pole to repair. The Louisiana transfer station was to be cleared last week, but there was only one skip open and the place is still in a mess. People have even started filling their own potholes and Mike Davies says that opposite the pub on Third Avenue, there are piles of gravel that people are free to use to fill potholes. This is what he got Sabelo Ngcobo to do at Tweni beach car park.

Goosing around the garden
It seems it is no longer safe to work in your garden – Annabelle Marais of Raspberry Lane was pottering in her garden when she noticed three young Egyptian goslings with their mother. After staring each other down for a while, as Annabelle turned to walk away, she was attacked from behind. The mother pecked her on her head and blood was drawn. It was a frightening experience to say the least. Since then the little family has not been seen so do be on the lookout.
Be alert
Last Sunday night Richard Thompson of Park Road reported on the Sector 2 WhatsApp group that there had been an attempted house break-in and assault by two suspects wearing black beanies and very dark clothing. His tenant had gone out to his car when he was attacked. The assailants cut his forearms and stabbed him in both legs, but fortunately it was not too bad – the shock and trauma being the worst part. Andrew de Witt, a sufferer of transverse myelitis, also responded to the call and linked up the K9 unit. Thanks to SAPS, ADT, National Security and Lazer 911 for their prompt response.
Cheers to Pat and Jenny
Age really is just a number as proved last Sunday by Pat de Korte and Jenny Ford, who are both over 70 and completed the Spar Women’s 10km race in Durban – with loads of time to spare. Well done.

Holiday fun
Winter holidays are fun on the KZN South Coast. Port Shepstone Country Club hosted a lovely holiday cricket club. Friends Kyle Solomon, Matthew Borchers, Mason Hielckert and Kyle Grobler took part.
Surf and sun
The Tweni2’s Pairs surfing competition last Friday and Saturday was well supported and surfers enjoyed many good waves.
