Man shot in Sea Park

A charge of attempted murder was laid.

The owner of a property in Sea Park faces a charge of attempted murder after firing at an intruder picking pears from his tree.

“Police responded to a call last Saturday afternoon and found a 24-year-old man with multiple pellet wounds to his body. He was taken to hospital for treatment,” said police spokesman, Captain Petros Mpinge.

The 58-year-old man was arrested and appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court on Monday this week.

He was charged with attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of unlicensed ammunition.

The man appeared in court again yesterday (Wednesday) and the case was postponed for further investigation.
