The Pennington Open Gardens event in collaboration with Tidy Towns Pennington is here. Tickets are R100 per adult and R25 per child. The Lions Club of Scottburgh is looking for several items (milk cartons and plastic containers for recycling); support (old spectacles/glasses, books); warmth for those in need (blankets, knitted or crocheted squares to be made into blankets, knitted or crocheted teddy bears); and food assistance (non-perishable items – help feed families in need). The drop-off point is the corner of Scott and Arbuthnot streets, every Wednesday morning, from 10:00 until 11:30. Your donations make a difference. Recycle, reuse, care and share. Free rabies vaccinations will be held at Woodcrest Academy (3 Msinsi Road, Sezela) in partnership with eThekwini District Animal Health and Welfare on August 29, from 09:30 to 14:00. The event is open to the community. Help protect your pets, your family and the community by ensuring your dogs and cats are vaccinated against rabies. Bonus: every pet vaccinated will receive an entry into a lucky draw. Additional affordable services, including deworming and flea and tick treatments, will be offered.

Nippers are holding an open day at Scottburgh Surf Lifesaving Club on Sunday, September 6. Learn about the basics of water safety and lifesaving. Join in for fun activities on Scottburgh main beach from 08:30 to 10:00. For further information, contact Kirsten Cox on 082-855-1969.

Khanya Hospice is holding a Colour Fun Walk at Scottburgh main beach on September 27, from 09:00 to 16:00. Call or WhatsApp to register for the walk on 072-507-8773. Registration for the walk is on the beach from 07:00 to 09:00. Entry is R50 for adults, R30 for children, and R20 for pensioners. The walk will start at 10:00 after a fun warm-up. There is a market with local goods and live music all day. Let your light shine for the fighters, the survivors and the angels. Wear white, bring hope and leave a mark.

A fundraising raffle is being held for Shaninlea Visser, and you could be the lucky winner of Brent Lindeque’s latest book released in January. From small acts of kindness to life-changing moments wrapped in a ray of sunshine, the book celebrates the dreamers, the doers, and the everyday heroes who show up, stand tall, and make a difference in ways both big and small. Joanne’s Angels is putting together Christmas shoe boxes for the elderly. Items needed are soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, face cloth, socks, biscuits and sweets. These items can be dropped off at the offices of Jawitz in Scott Street, Scottburgh.

Pennington Conservancy is collecting bottle caps, lids, and tops. If you can drink it, they can use it. Every cap collected makes a difference. Caps off to a greener tomorrow.
