Payal is a top 10 finalist in Face of Pond’s #iamthefaceofponds
Everyone is urged to vote for the South Coast's local beauty.
Payal Ramlall kicked off women’s month by being chosen as one of the top 10 finalists for the Face of Pond’s.
The competition has garnered over 15 000 entries from women across South Africa.

At the end of the intense, yet exciting week of judging, the top 10 were selected, and Payal of Port Shepstone received the call notifying her that she was one of the finalists.
Payal said that being chosen as a brand ambassador for a heritage brand, that most of us have grown up with in our homes, would be an absolute privilege. But most importantly, it would give her the platform to inspire other women to feel comfortable in the skin they’re born with.
“Anyone who knows me knows that I am a strong believer in accepting and loving yourself the way you are. Growing up I’ve had my share of days where I have been criticized by others and worse off, I have criticized myself for not looking a certain way. This changed for me when I accepted that this is me. I love my crooked smile. I love my skin colour. I love my skinny genes. I love my scars because that’s what sets me apart from anyone else. My flaws make me who I am,” she said.
Payal is humbled by the support she has received from all her friends, family and especially her Instagram family.
“I want to do my best to represent women of all shapes, sizes and colour in the best way I can,” she added.
In 2016, Payal was scouted by Kim Myers, director of ARTS (Applause Rising Talent Showcase), and jetted off to New York, Orlando, Florida and the Walt Disney World Swan Hotel.
