Health discussed with seniors at Lighthouse meeting
Often guest speakers are invited to host informative talk sessions with the seniors on topics relevant to them.
THE Lighthouse Community Services held its monthly get together with seniors at the Port Shepstone Recovery Centre last Saturday.
The organisation is dedicated to caring for seniors within the community and once a month the elderly are treated to a day of socialising with friends and a delicious hot meal.

Often guest speakers are invited to host informative talk sessions with the seniors on topics relevant to them.
Sister Sindiswa Garane gave a talk on health care for the elderly. She said the Port Shepstone Clinic has health promotion campaigns running to assist senior citizens better understand how to take good care of themselves and to curb unhealthy habits that put them at risk of ailments.
“Let me remind you that your health is most important. Do regular checks, exercise, and if doctors have given you guidance about medication or which foods or drinks to abstain from, then follow their instructions,” she advised.

The other guest speaker Hafsah Ali, runs an Asian spa and spoke on the benefits of visiting one. “It’s not surprising that many of us look and feel exhausted all the time. Spas nowadays offer a wide range of services that include massages, facial treatments, grooming, and body therapies. A good massage is a nice starting point to encourage blood flow in the body, relieving body pain and promoting deep relaxation,” she said.
