After matriculating from Meadowlands Secondary in 1974, Mr Naidu pursued a B.Paed Commerce degree at the University of Durban-Westville. His very first teaching appointment was in the commerce department at Port Shepstone Secondary in 1979 where he remained till he was promoted to the head of department of commerce in 1989.
Mr Naidu secured the post of deputy principal at Port Shepstone Primary in 2000 and then moved on to the principal’s post in 2011.
Those who have worked with him can attest to his calm demeanour and caring and paternal manner in dealing with both staff and pupils at the school. During his tenure as principal, Mr Naidu displayed tremendous patience and sensitivity to the diverse socio-economic circumstances of pupils and parents. He was committed to the transformation of the school in line with the vision of the Department of Education.
Mr Naidu will leave behind the stress and deadlines of the education sector to enjoy well-deserved quality time with his son Keshen, daughter Seshni and grandson Aaqil.
He looks forward to his retirement and watching his favourite sports on television, especially his favourite soccer team, Liverpool.
Anandh Badrinath, a teacher at the school spoke on behalf of all when he said, “The school governing body, staff and pupils of Port Shepstone Primary would like to thank Mr Naidu for his dedicated service. Congratulations on your retirement. We wish you nothing but good health and joyous days.”
