THREE men wearing balaclavas robbed Elambula School in the Danganya area late last month.
The school’s security guard noticed three men, two of whom were carrying firearms, enter the school premises.

“One of the armed men knocked at the guardhouse door and at gunpoint, demanded that the guard hand over his own firearm,” said Umkomaas Saps communications officer, Captain Ismail Shaik.
When the security guard said he was unarmed, he was assaulted by the man who also took his cellphone.
The man and his two accomplices then broke into a classroom before forcing the guard to take them to the principal’s office.
“The guard saw one of the men carrying boxes containing computers out of the school, and also noticed that they were carrying a bolt cutter,” added Captain Shaik.
The robbers reportedly got away with 57 laptops as well as the guard’s cell phone, together estimated to be worth about R456 300.
Anyone with information which could help the investigation is asked to call 039-9736100.
“This theft of these computers will have a negative impact on pupils as they are needed for educational purposes,” said Captain Shaik.
