Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Hibiscus Coast Navaratri Committee has decided to suspend the 108 Hanuman Chalisa recitals that was scheduled to take place at the Shree Raam Narayan Mandhir on May 9 this year.

“It is unfortunate that this highly-anticipated event has to be cancelled, but in light of the global pandemic, it is undoubtedly the right decision. Therefore, we are acting on government regulations to protect the health of our community through avoiding travel and minimising social contact,” said a committee spokesman.

The committee takes thanks members, devotees and sponsors for their commitment leading up to the event whilst assuring all that it will be in contact once the situation has been reviewed and the event has been declared safe to host.

“We urge devotees to continue recitals and prayers in the comfort of their homes, as prayer is the only source of reassurance that will assist in dealing with the current stress that has been inflicted upon all citizens. At the same time, let us observe strict hygiene and promote adherence to the guidelines from the department of health.”
