Covid-19: 8 new deaths, 6783 confirmed cases in South Africa

So far, 2549 people have recovered from the virus.

As at today (May 3), according to the minister of health, Zweli Mkhize, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in South Africa is 6783.

He added that 2549 people have recovered from the virus.

Eight more people have died  – 2 from the Western Cape, 4 from the Eastern Cape and 2 from Gauteng, bringing the number of deaths to 131.

The total number of tests conducted to date is 245 747, of which 15 061 were done in the last 24 hours.

As of April 30, some 7 216 777 citizens have been screened and from the community screening programme, 72 087 people were referred for testing.

Free State – 122

Gauteng – 1624

KwaZulu-Natal – 1076

Limpopo – 37

Mpumalanga – 46

North West – 36
