Marburg Secondary recently bade farewell to mathematics educator and departmental head, Preechand ‘Paul’ Sadapal. Mr Sadapal served two stints at the school, totalling 24 years. He was first appointed as a mathematics educator in 1986, a position he held until he was promoted to head of department at a neighbouring school in 1997.

Mr Sadapal returned to Marburg Secondary in 2007 as a level one educator before being promoted to mathematics departmental head in 2014. Over the years, he contributed greatly to the educational and co-curricular aspects of the school. In addition to teaching, he was tuck-shop coordinator for more than 10 years, producer of several school plays and a student driver education programme instructor.
Recently, he and his wife Vanitha, a retired educator herself, decided to relocate to Gauteng to be closer to family. Mr Sadapal will, however, not be lost to education as he has been given an inter-provincial transfer to Bryanston High in Johannesburg.
His resumé is testament to the contribution he has made to the educational and schooling community.
Marburg Secondary’s loss is surely Bryanston Highs gain as Mr Sadapal embarks on another chapter of his professional journey. The school principal, staff, governing body and learners would like to wish him well as he pursues another challenge in his illustrious career.
